Decorating With Mexican Blankets

These popular Mexican Blankets, known as Serapes, are a great way to brighten up any room in the house.  These blankets are generally made of an acrylic/cotton blend, and come in a variety of colors and sizes.  Here are some ideas for each room of your house.

Kitchen: The Mexican blanket looks great as a tablecloth for that southwest or fiesta look for your next dinner party.  The smaller sizes also make great centerpieces or can be used as placemats.  The blankets also come in a size perfect for use as a table runner.

Living Areas: Use the Serape blanket as a couch cover.  The durability of the blanket makes it an ideal material for adding color to a boring sofa or loveseat.  Another great idea is to use the blanket for curtains.  The smaller serapes can be used on coffee tables or as a runner on the entertainment center.

Bedroom:  The x-large Mexican blanket is the perfect size for a bedspread for a queen or king sized bed.  They can also be used as curtains in the bedroom as well.

Bathroom: The serapes can also be used in the bathroom as a shower curtain (use a waterproof insert on the inside).  Get creative and cut the serapes to make toilet seat covers as well.
